On November 7-8, 2024, the Russian State Agrarian University named after K.A. During the plenary session, Arman Orazalievich Ismailov, Rector of M. Dulatov KInEU, addressed the conference participants with a video greeting. Arman Ismailov emphasized that issues related to foreign language study for professional purposes, as well as the characteristics of interlanguage and intercultural communication in modern society and multilingual contexts, are also relevant in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He expressed gratitude for the productive collaboration and conveyed his belief in the power of science and education as foundations for sustainable societal development. The Rector wished all conference participants a successful and productive experience, fruitful discussions, and new scientific breakthroughs. The conference also featured a video presentation by G. Eskatova, a senior lecturer from the Department of Socio-Economic Disciplines, titled “A Student-Centered Approach in Teaching Professional English to Students Majoring in Logistics.” The presentation highlighted that the student-centered approach to teaching professional English focuses on engaging students as active participants in the learning process rather than passive receivers of information.
This approach adapts the course to the individual needs and interests of students, aiming to improve communicative skills necessary for professional interactions with international colleagues and partners. The presentation included specific examples of tasks used by the instructor during practical sessions on professionally-oriented English for Logistics students to stimulate cognitive engagement and motivation.
