No one is forgotten

Today, according to the established good tradition, on the threshold of celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the rector of Kostanay Engineering and Economics University named after M. Dulatov, the deputy of city maslikhat Arman Orazalievich Ismailov and the deputy akim of Kostanay city Almat Muratkhanovich Isenbaev visited the veteran of war Dmitry Petrovich Naprienko, who will be 98 years old this year.

Dmitry Petrovich was drafted into the army in 1944, when he was only 17 years old. He was trained and formed in Chebarkul, in the 13th reserve rifle regiment, and then served in the Far East. He was seriously wounded, and in 1951 he was demobilized and returned to his homeland.

Today Dmitry Petrovich is one of the few surviving witnesses of that terrible war. Due to his age he needs special care and attention. Guests congratulated the veteran, said warm words, listened to his memories, presented gifts and anniversary medal from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Every year veterans become less and less, and the more valuable becomes each living testimony. After all very soon the history of that war will remain only on pages of textbooks. And while we have the honor to talk to heroes - it is important to hear, remember and be grateful.
