Academic Mobility
On 16 September 2011, KEnEU named after M. Dulatov signed the Magna Charta Universitatum (Bologna) and thereby committed itself to implementing all the requirements of the Bologna Process, including promoting academic mobility for students and teachers.
Academic mobility is the movement of students or teacher-researchers for a specific academic period (including training or industrial practice), usually a semester or academic year, to another higher education institution (within the country or abroad) for study or research, with the mandatory transfer of credits for completed educational programmes in accordance with the established procedure at their home university.
The academic mobility programme at the Kostanay Engineering and Economics University, is implemented in two areas:
National (internal) academic mobility (Kazakhstani partner universities) involves the training of students and the work of teachers and researchers at leading Kazakhstani universities.
International (external) academic mobility (foreign partner universities) involves student training at foreign universities, taking into account their potential and ability to adapt to different education systems in order to continue their education, as well as the work of teaching and research staff at foreign educational or scientific institutions.
Who can participate in the mobility programme?
As a rule, students in their second or third year of study participate in academic mobility programmes, since first-year students mainly study general education subjects that do not require travel. In their final year, students are required to complete an internship and write a thesis, which makes it impossible for them to participate in mobility programmes.
What is required to participate in the programme?
Are there any special requirements for students?
In order to participate in the programme, you must be a full-time student and submit an application to participate in the academic mobility programme.
In addition, if you want to travel to one of the countries abroad, you must have a good command of a foreign language, usually English.
Where can I go?
Students have the right to choose any higher education institution within the Republic of Kazakhstan or abroad that will transfer their credits (i.e., grades for courses taken).
In addition, the University has signed cooperation agreements with more than 40 higher education institutions in various countries around the world (the Russian Federation, Germany, France, Italy, Lithuania, etc.).
What will happen to my studies at the University during the period when I am away on the academic mobility programme?
All you need to do is successfully complete the programme at the host university, pass the exams, and you will receive a transcript with grades for the subjects you have completed. Upon your return to the University, your grades will be credited, and if there are any subjects that you have not passed, you will need to retake them in the summer semester.
How are academic mobility programmes funded?
The amount and method of payment are determined individually for each student. This is primarily due to the need to obtain the consent of the host university, as it is the university that will determine the method of payment for tuition. Some partner higher education institutions agree to accept students on a free-of-charge basis, while others require partial or full payment for tuition.
In addition, students should, of course, take into account the cost of travel to the country where the programme is taking place, accommodation and additional personal expenses.
