Project "Creating an intellectual educational ecosystem in Kostanay"

Currently, the university is implementing a joint project with the International Telecommunication Union entitled "Creating an Intelligent Educational Ecosystem in Kostanay". Project implementation period: August 1, 2020 – December 31, 2022.

The project received support from the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and successfully passed the ITU expert review. On September 17, 2020, during the project launch meeting, its details were discussed in detail and KEnEU with full expert support from the ITU, began implementing the project.

The project envisages joint financing of the process of creating a unified telecommunications educational network, including educational institutions, dormitories, libraries, scientific and technical creativity centres, and other organisations involved in human resource development in the city of Kostanay. The centre of the proposed telecommunications network is the network and information infrastructure created on the basis of KEnEU.

The main objective of the project is to provide educational institutions with telecommunications and information services, such as high-speed Internet, a platform for organising distance learning, video conferencing, IP telephony, connection to the electronic library of universities and educational resources, network management and monitoring.

Expected outcomes:

1. Modernised basic telecommunications network of KEnEU.

2. Intelligent educational ecosystem in Kostanay.

As part of this project, KEnEU and ITU have set a goal to create an intelligent educational ecosystem in Kostanay, which includes providing educational institutions with telecommunications and information services such as high-speed Internet, a platform for organising distance learning, video conferencing, IP telephony, connection to the electronic library of universities and educational resources, network management and monitoring.

This goal was ultimately achieved by modernising the existing core of the KEnEU telecommunications network, connecting KEnEU facilities, and deploying a platform for organising distance learning, video conferencing, IP telephony, connection to the electronic library of universities and educational resources, network management, and monitoring.

Results obtained:

1. The basic telecommunications network of KEnEU has been modernised.

2. An intelligent educational ecosystem has been created in Kostanay:

6 connected facilities,

702 ecosystem users.

The beneficiaries of the project were:

• Students living in dormitories of higher and secondary educational institutions in the city of Kostanay who benefit from improved connectivity and the use of a smart educational ecosystem;

• Employees of educational institutions who benefit from the use of a smart educational ecosystem;

• Individuals and legal entities living or working in close proximity to the location of users who benefit from the use of the smart educational ecosystem.

This project has created an important tool for accelerating the introduction of digital technologies in one of Kazakhstan's remote regions.
