Students' involvement in research work is considered as an important intellectual potential, positively influencing the further formation of a specialist. Research work of students, which is a mandatory, integral part of the preparation of qualified specialists at the university, becomes an inseparable component of a single process: educational and scientific-innovative. Student's participation in scientific work during his/her stay in higher education is a necessary part of education of a qualified specialist with formed basic knowledge, as the process of science and technology causes an ever-increasing flow of scientific information.
Lecturers of the departments work on attracting students to research activities. Involvement of students in scientific work is implemented through: preparation of essays, abstracts, reports, performance and defence of coursework, performance of final qualification work, participation of students in project work, participation in scientific seminars, competitions of research works, competitions in specialty disciplines, participation in city, regional and international scientific conferences.
The University has developed the following mechanisms to facilitate the presentation of students' scientific positions on scientific platforms:
- student scientific and practical conference, seminars and other events are held, where students have the opportunity to declare their scientific;
- the university publishes a scientific and production magazine ‘Nauka’, where each student can publish the results of their scientific research.
- students have the opportunity to participate in scientific and practical conferences of international and regional level to announce the direction and results of their research work.
On the basis of Kostanay Engineering and Economics University named after M. Dulatov there are student scientific clubs. Student scientific club is the main structural unit of the organisation of research and development at the department. The organisation of work in such club provides research on a problematic topic. The work of students is based on the performance of tasks of the supervisor in accordance with the work plan of the club.
